Holy Chic, Why Am I Hoarding So Many Tees?

The t-shirt has been a staple in my closet for years. When I was working as a teacher, I loved pairing a solid tee with a printed cardigan. I loved having so many tee options that I could dress up and make my own with accessories. But since I’m not working anymore, I wanted to find a new way to wear tees. But styling the tees will be another post to come. I just want to talk about why tees need to be in your closet and my closet AND show you my top picks.

Graphic tees are all the rage right now, as you probably know. If you don’t know, just trust me. And they add a little more sass and personality to your outfit than a solid or striped tee would. So here’s a preview to a future post: If I was still teaching, I would style a graphic tee under a fitted blazer and a fun printed flat. I can still do the same in my stay-at-home mom attire, but instead of a dress pant, I would probably do a destructed jean. Or maybe with a jogger pant and a slip-on sneaker. But more on styling in the near future…

Since tees are so versatile, they are understandably taking over my closet. One trip into my closet the other day, and I realized I may be becoming a t-shirt hoarder. I would bet that about nine out of the ten times I shop, I buy a tee. I can ALWAYS justify that purchase. But what’s getting scary is that I am forgetting that I have new ones to try…Like I’m going into my closet and finding tees with tags on them that I forgot about. Am I getting the mom brain thing, or do I need to just stop buying them? Let’s go with the mom brain thing…

So here are my favorite recent t-shirt buys:

1.Old Navy Holy Chic Graphic Tee

//assets.pinterest.com/js/pinit.js Such a playful phrase. Such a great price. Every style blogger and probably her mother has this tee, but in this case, I don’t care. The simplicity of the tee makes for easy styling and so.many.options! These run true to size if you want a tighter fit. Size up if you want that relaxed, cool vibe. Since my baby belly is (slowly but surely) shrinking, I decided to go for the tighter look to counteract all the baggy tees in my closet.

2. Sincerely Jules Cali Palms Tee

I love Sincerely Jules tees! The quality is seriously AMAZING. I love the beach print for summer, but I also am intrigued by the idea of styling it with fall accessories for more wear. I also have the flamingo one. But…my husband (jokingly?) asked me if I was borrowing my grandmother’s shirt when he saw me wearing it… But flamingos were a thing this summer. Vouch for me here. I still LOVE the flamingo one and will wear it proudly.

The fit on this one is very loose. Some reviewers on Piperlime gave this tee a low rating and said they felt they were wearing their husband’s tee. And I thought to myself, yes!! Why is this a problem?? I loved these tees for hiding the baby belly (I had my daughter in April). I ordered a medium in both the palms tee and the flamingo (grandma) tee, but I could easily wear a small.

I just checked Piperlime, and these tees are on MAJOR clearance. But they’re final sale, too. I say, go for it!

3. Zara Leopard is the New Black Tee

How cute is this tee? Honestly. And my love for leopard print is pretty apparent, so that’s why this tee works for me. I cannot WAIT to try this tee with my skinny jeans and Target moto boots.

4. Victoria’s Secret PINK Crewneck Pocket Tee

Now this one wouldn’t qualify as a graphic tee, but I can’t do a tee post without talking about it. I actually bought three of these tees this summer, but this print, I would have to say, is my favorite. It’s no surprise that I struggle with length in tees (Didn’t you read my “About Me” section?). I love the length and the light feel of these tees.
So seriously, though…Don’t you need some more tees? Go buy some. And then come back so we can talk about styling them!
