Today’s post is all about fall shopping. Here’s my first wishlist for the season, a list of pieces I have bought or will consider buying this fall. I am always a fan of planning when shopping so I don’t end up with pieces I won’t wear or can’t coordinate with other pieces in my closet. As you can probably tell after looking at my list, I’m really wanting the comfy chic trend to work for me (hence the jogger pants and sweatshirt jacket). But old habits die hard for me, also…see exhibit A (two statement necklaces) and exhibit B (destructed denim).
Structured jacket? Love. Made out of sweatshirt material? Love even more. This jacket is perfect for my new lifestyle as a stay-at-home mom. It helps me look put together when I also want to feel comfortable. The fit and length are equally awesome. I think you should run to Target. Right now. (As if you needed an excuse.)
VERDICT: already purchased
My new love for a jewelry brand is Baublebar. I know I’m late here. Such trendy, fun pieces. I love the blend of glam and traditional (in the tortoise) material in this necklace. But this one isn’t even my favorite tortoise piece. I’m hoping the beauty pictured below will be restocked. The Tortoise Ariel Collar Necklace went out of stock last week, and this one was actually my favorite. Sigh.
VERDICT: will probably purchase for family pictures in October
This top is a trendier find, so I like the price. Investing in trendy pieces, to me, is usually not really worth it because you really don’t know if the trend is going to be around next year. I am not a fan of traditional plaid on me, to be honest, but I like the bigger scale of the buffalo plaid and the colors.
VERDICT: Still thinking…
I. LOVE. THESE. I have distressed denim, I have black denim, but not a combination of the two! I have always had good luck with the Old Navy Sweetheart fit but have never tried the Rockstar. I am in between sizes right now, so although I LOVE these, I am going to wait. I am still four months out from having a baby, so I need to pace myself with clothes, especially pants. But you may know that feeling of being able to wear your pre-pregnancy size again. The urge to shop is really strong.
VERDICT: A definite future purchase
I have been thinking about this necklace since the summer. Actually, when I was getting dressed yesterday, I was thinking it would look great with the outfit I had on. At first, I just wasn’t sure if I would get my wear out of such a statement piece when I’m not dressing up for work anymore, but now I know I will when we go out for family dinners or to church. Or if I want to dress up for my
weekly twice-a-week trip to Target.
VERDICT: A definite future purchase
These pants go against everything I used to stand for. They’re essentially sweatpants made to be worn in public. The metal detailing on the drawstring and the flattering piping make them a dressier sweatpant option. They’re not quite leggings, and they’re not quite “real” pants. Basically, they’re awesome. And the fit is really flattering, also. I will feature these in a later blog post. Are you using the Target Cartwheel app? I got these pants last week for 25 percent off. Keep checking for sales on the app!
VERDICT: Already purchased
You may remember last week’s “on repeat” post on taupe ankle boots. I asked those of you who know me well if you could guess which taupe boots out of the five pairs I featured were my chosen purchase. Here’s your answer!
My choice was the Steve Madden Cinch, found on 6pm.com for $49.99. They are no longer available on the website, though…Most other websites are listing them for over $80. So the moral of the story is…follow a sale and go for it if you really think you’ll get your wear out of the piece. I know these boots will be on repeat on the blog in this fall/winter season. Have a GREAT day!
