Happy Monday, gals! As most of you know, on the blog, I like to put pieces on repeat (hence the name of the blog), or style and remix certain pieces so my closet (and yours) seems full and my budget for clothes isn’t busted. I try to show you pieces that have worked for me in multiple ways. The three basic pieces in this outfit are some of those on repeat pieces for me: the cable knit sweater, the boyfriend jean, and the taupe shoe.
But the scarf, though. I love this scarf so much that I bought it not knowing what I would wear with it. (AHH. I almost never do that.) But sometimes you just have to go for it when it’s $16.99 at Target, you know? And think about it later. Life’s too short to not be excited about a scarf. It’s so soft, and the plaid is so on trend right now. (But you knew that!)
This outfit is so comfy (honestly) and would be great for a holiday get-together, if you do casual like my families (in-laws included) do. And to have room in the pants on Thanksgiving or Christmas is so special, is it not? I have suffered in tight pants during my fair share of holiday gatherings. Not this year. So family, if you’re reading this post, act surprised when I show up in this outfit.
I would also wear this outfit for a holiday shopping trip. You know when you want to be warm but don’t want to wear your bulky winter coat? Cable knit + scarf = perfect amount of warmth. And the shoes are that comfortable. Promise.
Sweater: Old Navy
I featured this sweater in an earlier post on quilted vests. You can check it out here. An ivory sweater is such a great layering piece/building block in a winter wardrobe. Psst…Old Navy is 35% off online right now… (until Tuesday the 18th).
Tank under sweater: Old Navy (in store)
Boyfriend jeans and sweaters just work together so nicely. I talked boyfriend jeans and comfy sweaters not too long ago, explaining what I think you should look for when you buy a pair of boyfriend jeans. You can read the post here. P.S. These jeans are 40% off right now!
I got these for Christmas last year, and I still cannot believe how comfortable they are. Here’s a closer look.
These shoes are the only pair of wedges I own (I usually don’t do any type of heel…because I don’t really need the help in height…), and I can wear them when I’m running errands and pushing a shopping cart or stroller. The heel is doable, and the taupe color goes with seriously everything.
Love, love, love this scarf. Though black will always be my first love in terms of basic color, I can’t deny that the camel base color in this scarf is probably more flattering on me. I love that this scarf is oversized, but it’s not overwhelming my neck. I know wearing scarves that are practically blankets on people is so “in” right now, but I think too much scarf is distracting (and probably annoying!). P.S. I want this one next.
And I am horrible at figuring out how to tie a scarf, so I was SO appreciative for this post on one of my favorite blogs, The Mom Edit.
Use holiday sales to your advantage! I see no shame in stocking up on some wardrobe staples when the sales are so good. Come back Wednesday when we talk about statement coats (and another formula)! And later in the week…a beauty post!
