A Little Camo Print, A Lot of Camo Print, Round 2: Upping the Feminine Factor

Since camo print is such an important part of my personal wardrobe, here we are exploring it just a bit more today! (Didn’t catch my first camo print post? Click HERE.) One common complaint about camo print is that it comes off a little masculine. While that may be true with some pieces, I would say it all depends on the execution. If your style lends more feminine, don’t count camo out!

Just like I showed you in the last post, I’m featuring a little camo print in my first outfit and a bit more in my second outfit.

Punch up a basic outfit with camo earrings! Anyone who knows me well knows I have a strong fear of wearing big earrings, but I fell in love with these earrings after reading the One Little Momma blog (she owns Nickel and Suede and actually creates and sells these earrings). These leather earrings feel so light (that’s a big thing for me…), and I love the way they look with pretty much any hairstyle – up, down, long, short. So to draw attention to my earrings, I tweaked the camo jacket outfit I showed you in the last post. I still envision this outfit as a basic errand running outfit. However, to up the feminine factor even more for a night out, add a blazer nipped in at the waist and a stiletto boot.

A great way to “reclaim” your femininity is to add pink to any outfit. I love the unexpected pink in the shoe. I am typically a flats kind of girl, but a pink heel would also look great. I made sure the pink hue was bold enough to make its own statement in the outfit – a paler pink would not have the same effect, and a neon pink may look like you’re trying too many trends at once. A magenta is a timeless pink that is bold and classy at the same time, when worn in moderation.
Another idea is to add a chunky statement necklace. I added this Baublebar necklace and these taupe ankle boots to the same camo sweater and skinny jeans when I wanted to dress up this outfit recently.

My goal this week was to show you some basic ways to wear camo. These outfits are quick and easy to throw together when you want to look polished but don’t have much time (story of my life). My goal going into next week, though, is to create more interesting outfits that are a little more special and unique. Hope to see you back!
