The Espadrille: Your Most Versatile Spring Shoe

I am all for versatility in wardrobe pieces. You kind of have to be when you operate on a clothing budget, right? Though I find it fun and exciting to add creative, one-of-a-kind statement pieces to my wardrobe, most of the time, I’m trying for versatility when I shop for new pieces. And espadrilles are probably the most versatile shoes I own.

Espadrilles (in case we are unsure) are those shoes usually made out of canvas with a hemp/straw sole. They come in flats and wedges, but I stick with flats (shocker). Right now, I own three pairs (bright pink, leopard print, and the black ones featured in today’s post), but I would love to add more, especially if they’re from Target. Gimme all the Target shoes.

I would wear this outfit for so many occasions – a lunch or casual dinner date, a casual church service, just because I don’t want to wear sweats for another day, etc. Espadrilles go with nearly everything. Last summer, I wore my pink espadrilles with a black dress while I was in Florida for my brother-in-law’s wedding. I plan on wearing espadrilles with pretty much everything this spring and summer, from shorts to jogger pants, dresses to skinny pants, and (of course) my trusty American Eagle jeggings.

Even though the espadrilles are versatile, you don’t have to stretch your budget too much for a good pair. I am loving these from Target, which are in stores now for $25.

Speaking of jogger pants…should I do another post on joggers? Are we still intrigued by jogger pants? I am, but are you, my reader friend? Let me know, and I can make it happen!
