So I told you all that I would be counting down my top five favorite LuLaRoe pieces, and when I had the vision for this blog series, I thought deciding on five would not be too hard. But yeah. It totally is. As you know if you’ve been keeping up with this series, I have posted on the NICOLE DRESS (#5), the AZURE SKIRT (#4), and the LINDSAY KIMONO (#3).
Now let’s talk tops. I own the Randy (I wear a small), the classic (I wear a small but could wear an XS), the perfect (I wear an XS, but sizing is generous), and the Irma. (For reference, I am 5’11” and a size 6/27″ in most jeans.) And as you can probably imagine (since I’m a new consultant and all…), I really love all of the tops for different reasons. But since I need versatility in my wardrobe as a working mom on a budget, I had to think about the top I have worn the most and in different ways. Though they are all versatile in their own way, when I look back at my Instagram pictures, the Irma is the clear winner in the “tops” category, my second favorite LuLaRoe piece.
As for sizing in the Irma, I have some Irmas in XXS and XS. Consultants usually tell their customers to size down once or twice from their normal shirt size in the Irma. I usually wear smalls in tops but also can wear mediums. When my LuLaRoe inventory comes, I will be trying out a small Irma for length, though. I will report back when I do!
Let me explain how I get the most versatility out of my Irmas, how I style them in different ways to keep it interesting.
The Irma attracts many who are new to LuLaRoe because it’s a top you can comfortably wear with leggings and not feel exposed, as it is a tunic top and is longer in the back. My suggestion is to start building your wardrobe with basic Irmas in solids or stripes or other patterns that can easily be “print mixed” with other prints. If you love the printed leggings and want to wear Irmas with the leggings, I suggest starting out by playing it safe and stocking up on basic solids or striped Irmas. That’s what I did anyway, and I have found that if I HAVE TO HAVE a pair of crazy leggings, chances are I have an Irma that will match them already in my closet.
Doing Mom things.
In the summer when I’m playing outside with my kids, I need to be able to wear shorts on super hot days. I love the idea of knotting the Irma on the side when pairing it with shorts so it brings the hemline up in both the front and the back.
In the spring and fall (jacket weather), I pair my Irma with my favorite jacket and jeans for a comfy but pulled-together look. Bonus points for a hat. I love ball caps. I also love fedoras on other people but think I may look a little Carmen Sandiego if I try a fedora? Not ready to step that far out of my comfort zone yet!
As a working mom, I find it amazing that I can style the same top for the park and work. I have paired my Irmas with black skinny dress pants and a leather jacket (a blazer would also work, but I like a little edge to my look) and also with a Cassie skirt (with the Irma knotted in the front). The Irma and Cassie look shown above was one I wore on my birthday, but I have also worn this look to work a few times.
